Privacy Policy

BiteClub ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the BiteClub mobile app and what we do with it.

1. No Account Required

BiteClub does not require you to create an account. You use a display name of your choosing and a temporary session code. We do not collect your email address, phone number, or any login credentials.

2. Information We Collect

Location
We request access to your device's location while the app is in use. Your location is used solely to find nearby restaurants and, when two users are in a session, to calculate a midpoint between them. Location data is transmitted to our server only during an active session and is not stored after the session ends.

Display Name
You choose a display name when starting or joining a session. This name is stored locally on your device and shared with other participants in your session. It is not linked to any persistent account.

Session Data
We store anonymous session records in our database, including the restaurants that were matched during a session. These records do not contain your name, location, or any personally identifiable information.

Device Attestation
We use Firebase App Check to verify that requests to our servers come from genuine versions of BiteClub. This uses Apple DeviceCheck (iOS) or Google Play Integrity (Android) under the hood. These services may collect device-level signals to confirm device integrity. No personally identifiable information is shared with us through this process.

3. Third-Party Services

BiteClub uses the following third-party services:

• Google Places API — to search for and display nearby restaurants. Your location is sent to Google to retrieve results. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase (Google) — for app integrity verification (App Check) and anonymous usage analytics. See Firebase Privacy.

4. Data Retention

Session records (matched restaurant IDs and anonymous session metadata) are retained in our database for product improvement purposes. Location data is not stored after a session concludes.

5. Children's Privacy

BiteClub is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
